Professional ProfileDr. Shakeel Anjum is Consultant Rheumatologist and Senior Clinical Lecturer at University Hospital Waterford.
Dr. Anjum has worked as Consultant Rheumatologist since 2017 in major teaching hospitals in Ireland, Pakistan, and the UK.
Prior to joining the University Hospital Waterford team, Dr. Anjum worked as a Consultant Rheumatologist at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Addenbrookes Hospital) in the U.K. While there, he worked in the Connective Tissue Diseases subspecialty of rheumatology, gaining substantial experience treating such diseases as lupus, scleroderma and vasculitis.
Dr. Anjum holds a Senior Clinical Lecturer position at the School of Medicine at University College Cork. He is trainer/supervisor for the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland for Postgraduate training of doctors in General Medicine and Rheumatology and is an examiner for the postgraduate examinations of MRCPI.
Special Interest:
Dr. Anjum is interested in all rheumatology conditions but most particularly:
- Connective Tissues Diseases: lupus, scleroderma, sjogren’s syndrome, polymyositis
- Use of ultrasound and ultrasound guided injections for diagnosis and treatment of rheumatological diseases. Using ultrasound in management of inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and gout etc.
