Dr. Iacopo Macchi is an experienced consultant in cataract and vitreoretinal surgery with extensive expertise in treating a range of retinal diseases, including retinal detachments, macular holes, and diabetic retinopathy. He has performed over 1,800 cataract surgeries, 1,000+ vitreoretinal surgeries, 2000+ laser procedures, solidifying his position as a leader in his field.

From November 20024 to February 2025, Dr. Macchi served as a Cataract and Vitreoretinal Consultant at Casa di Cura Accreditata "Fabia Mater" in Italy. Prior to this, he completed a 3 years-senior Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery between Newcastle upon Tyne University Hospitals NHS Trust and Bristol Eye hospital in the UK, where he gained extensive experience in vitreoretinal surgery, cataract surgery, and retinal lasers.

He has also completed a medical retina fellowship at Epsom and St. Helier Hospital in the London area.

Dr. Macchi has also achieved esteemed certifications as Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO) and Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology for retinal specialists (FEBOS-r).

He is dedicated to advancing research in ophthalmology, particularly in retinal diseases and surgical techniques. His work has contributed to various peer-reviewed publications, including studies on vascular changes after vitrectomy and new surgical techniques.
