Professor Ríona Mulchay sees patients in an out-patient department setting in UPMC Whitfield Hospital.

Professor Ríona Mulcahy is a Consultant Physician in General and Geriatric Medicine at University Hospital Waterford (UHW) since 2000. She is also Clinical Director in UHW.

She has many research interests and has published extensively on the role of micronutrient supplementation in cognitive disorders. Other research includes assessing the impact of exercise on frailty, sarcopenia and parkinson’s disease.

Prof. Mulcahy has had many leadership roles, including chair of the National Clinical Advisory Group in stroke, Departmental Lead in Elderly Medicine, and undergraduate education in UHW. She is Undergraduate Dean in the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland.

Her areas of specialist interests include neurodegenerative disorders: dementia, stroke and parkinson’s disease, as well as medical conditions in older persons and management of polypharmacy.

Prof. Mulcahy welcomes referrals for older adults with a broad spectrum of medical conditions, including:
