Professional ProfileDr. Liz Purcell is a consultant plastic, reconstructive, aesthetic and hand surgeon. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and a member of the Irish Association of Plastic Surgeons and the Irish Hand Surgery Society.
Dr. Purcell graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1996. Following an internship at St James’s Hospital Dublin, Dr. Purcell taught anatomy at Trinity College Dublin and obtained a postgraduate Masters of Medical Science degree in anatomy and anthropology from University College Dublin.
Dr. Purcell became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland on completion of basic surgical training and subsequently undertook a period of laboratory-based research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA.
Dr. Purcell pursued a Fellowship at Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and undertook a European diploma in hand surgery (FESSH). Dr Purcell completed her training with a clinical fellowship in breast and microsurgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, UK, before returning to practice in Ireland.
She worked for a period as a public hospital consultant at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin and at Temple Street Children’s University Hospital before focussing on wholetime private practice.
