Dr. Catherine McKinley

Dr. Catherine McKinley is a native of Belfast and has been practising paediatric dentistry since 1995. Catherine graduated with honors from the Dental School at Trinity College, Dublin in 1990 and started her career with 5 years in general dentistry. In 1997, she completed two-years of full-time speciality training in paediatric dentistry, followed by a third year in a research and clinical teaching fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, USA. Catherine remained as a part-time clinical assistant professor at the dental school while joining a group practice in San Antonio in 1999. In 2004, she was awarded certification by the American Board of Paediatric Dentistry and also became a Fellow of the American Academy of Paediatric Dentistry. She is fully trained in all aspects of children’s oral health and development. She is dedicated to the comprehensive oral health care of children, from infancy through adolescence including those with special healthcare needs (children with medical, physical, intellectual, and emotional disabilities). Catherine’s speciality education included child psychology, behaviour guidance, preventative techniques, restorative dentistry, minor oral surgery, management of traumatic oral injuries, interceptive orthodontic care, and the treatment of children with special needs. Catherine has been in both private and hospital dentistry practice consistently since 1990.
