Professional Profile

Mr. Hamid Mustafa has recently joined the UPMC Aut Even Hospital General Surgery team. He also works as a Consultant General Surgeon at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.

Mr. Mustafa is a graduate of Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI), having completed his Masters in Colorectal Surgery in 2015. He obtained his FEBS (UEMS) in 2018, Intercollegiate FRCS Exam in General Surgery from JCIE in September 2019, and FEBS (Coloproctology) in November 2021. He is currently undertaking his research qualification (MCh) from UCC.

Mr. Mustafa joined St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny, as an SHO in 2014, progressing to a Registrar in General Surgery where he held the position from 2015-2017. Mr. Mustafa then worked in Cork University Hospital (CUH) from 2017 - 2021. While at CUH, Mr. Mustafa worked as a Senior Registrar in general, breast, endocrine, melanoma and sarcoma surgery. During this time he conducted a randomised controlled trial on types of neck wound closure, established new services including flexible endoscopy for vocal cord check and rapid access endocrine surgery clinic, and also introduced new surgical techniques in department including TOETVA thyroidectomies, laparoscopic excision of melanoma mets, laparoscopic lymphadectomies and minimally invasive hernia repairs.

Mr. Mustafa is actively involved in academic and research activities. I always strive to provide the best treatment to patients. He is registered with the Irish Medical Council and the General Medical Council in the UK.
