Professional ProfileEugene Ng graduated from University College Dublin in 2001 and brings over 10 years of ophthalmic surgical experience to the Institute of Eye Surgery, Waterford. Having trained in ophthalmic surgery at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital, Mater Misericordiae Hospital, University College Hospital Galway, Cork University Hospital, and Limerick Regional Hospital, he is a familiar face to local ophthalmic surgeons. Prior to returning to Ireland, Eugene was appointed Vitreo-Retinal Fellow at the New Zealand National Eye Center.
Eugene Ng specialises in micro-incision cataract and vitreo-retinal surgeries. He is a recipient of multiple research grants and principal investigator on multi-million euro budget optics projects with a common goal of reversing optical degradation through eye surgery. As co-founder of an ophthalmic innovation company and inventor on several ophthalmic pending patents, he has been invited to lecture on more than 30 occasion at various American, European and local meetings.
Mr. Ng has been an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmologists since 2001 and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons since 2009. He wishes to continue spending some of his free time in Kenya as a volunteer ophthalmic surgeon.
