Dr. Patrick Owens

Dr. Owens is a consultant cardiologist based in both University Hospital Waterford and UPMC Whitfield Hospital. He qualified in 1991 from University College Dublin, and trained in general and interventional cardiology in Beaumont Hospital, the Manchester Royal Infirmary, and Derriford Hospital Plymouth. He practiced as a consultant in Cornwall and the South West of England for five years, before returning to Waterford in 2009. Dr. Owen’s research interests are varied, and over the years have included hypertension, cardiac risk factor management, various aspects of interventional cardiology, and device therapy for cardiac disorders. Procedures undertaken in UPMC Whitfield Hospital include: T.O.E, Cardioversion, ILR Implantation, and Pacemaker Insertion.
