UPMC Executive in Ireland Named to Lead European Hospital Federation
The managing director of UPMC Ireland, Eamonn Fitzgerald, has been named president of the European Hospital and Healthcare Federation (HOPE). In this position, he will be at the forefront of shaping the country’s health care policies and promoting excellence in health care delivery across Europe.
In his roles at UPMC in Ireland, which he joined in 2021, Fitzgerald has overseen the expansion of UPMC’s presence in the country, fostering collaborations with the public health system and providing access to cutting-edge care for patients at UPMC’s hospitals, cancer centers and outpatient clinics.
“Eamonn’s appointment as the president of HOPE is well-deserved recognition of his leadership and commitment to advancing health care across Europe,” said Chuck Bogosta, president of UPMC International. “We have no doubt that he will excel in this role, bringing innovative solutions and driving positive change for the benefit of patients and health care providers alike.”
At HOPE, Fitzgerald will play a pivotal role in advocating for the highest standards of care, fostering dialogue and collaboration among key stakeholders and driving policy initiatives that address the evolving needs of patients.
“I am deeply honored to assume this role and look forward to working closely with my colleagues and the health care community at large to address the challenges and opportunities faced by our industry,” said Fitzgerald. “Together, we can create a more sustainable and patient-centric health care system that delivers excellence in care.”
HOPE is a European non-profit organization, created in 1966 representing national public and private hospital and health care associations and hospital, health and social care services owners. With 36 organizations from the 27 member states of the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the Republic of Serbia, HOPE covers almost 80% of hospital care and is also active in the health care and social fields.
