UPMC Sports Medicine Clinic Opens at Mardyke Arena University College Cork

Cork. 17 April, 2024 – UPMC Sports Medicine, a renowned leader in comprehensive sports medicine care, has opened a state-of-the-art clinic at the Mardyke Arena University College Cork. This a significant milestone in our commitment to delivering top-tier healthcare services for athletes and active individuals and is the latest clinic addition to the already well-established Sports Medicine locations in Dublin, Waterford, Limerick, Tipperary, and Mayo.  

In collaboration with the Mardyke Arena UCC, the new clinic will serve as a hub for cutting-edge sports medicine research, education, and patient care. UPMC’s partnership with Mardyke Arena UCC strengthens the connection between academia and healthcare, fostering innovation and advancing the field of sports and exercise medicine.

 “This is an exciting day for UPMC as we deliver access to advanced sports medicine equipment and treatments to the Cork community,” said Eamonn Fitzgerald, Managing Director, UPMC Ireland. “This new clinic is now part of a national and international sports medicine network and the UPMC team in Cork will work in close partnership with the network of expertise that will develop from this significant collaboration, to deliver the best outcomes to all patients of all ages.”

We are delighted that a world class Sports Medicine capability has opened at the Mardyke Arena. This facility will support athletes and teams within the campus but it will also serve the South Munster area providing healthcare solutions including advanced diagnostics. The clinic will also provide injury prevention support. Combined with research and teaching, the UPMC Sports Medicine Clinic at Mardyke Arena will add enormous value to the region in sports and non-sports medicine.”

  • Accessible Sports Medicine Services: The clinic will offer a wide range of services, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation. UPMC’s team of highly skilled sports medicine physicians, and physiotherapists will provide personalised care to athletes and active people of all levels.
  • UPMC Institute for Health: The Institute for Health is a collaborative model for patients and clinicians informed by academic research and models of preventive care developed by UPMC. The patient treatment focuses on prevention of chronic illness or measures that promote general health.
  • Advanced Diagnostic and Treatment Facilities: Equipped with the latest in medical technology, the clinic will feature cutting-edge diagnostic tools and treatment modalities to ensure accurate and effective care for sports-related injuries and conditions. 
  • Research Initiatives: UPMC Sports Medicine’s clinical experts will collaborate with our academic partners on research projects aimed at advancing knowledge related to sports medicine, physical activity health interventions, and improving patient outcomes.
